Class Description

Modular Outlaw is a racing class for extremely modified vehicles. This class is ultimately to find out who has the fastest non-tube chassis late-model modular based V8 overhead-cam engine vehicle in the country.

All Run, NHRA Pro Ladder, NHRA Pro .400 tree, Heads-Up, 1/8 mile, Courtesy Stage (Encouraged)

 

Class Rules

Any non-tube chassis vehicle with a late-model modular based V8 overhead-cam engine. Dragsters prohibited.

ENGINE

Engine must be a Modular 4.6/5.0/5.4/5.8 based V-8 Ford engine. Internal modifications are permitted

 

COOLING SYSTEM

Any radiator, water pump and cooling fan/fans permitted; Engine Cooling system can be contained inside the engine compartment or trunk. Radiator support may be modified or removed. Inner fender wells in front of the strut towers may be removed.

 

EXHAUST

Any header size/tubing permitted. Open headers, down pipe ok. Bumper/Fender exit ok.

 

FUEL-DELIVERY SYSTEM

OEM or aftermarket tank in trunk or stock location. Fuel cell in engine bay ok.

 

FUEL

All fuels permitted.

 

TURBOCHARGERS:
Single turbocharger limited to 88 mm maximum. (Garrett GTX55-88, Exile ETR-88, or = Forced Induction, Comp, Bullseye – mid frame or current (2013) Gen II Pro Mod MF88, PTE LF85 or LF88 turbos only). Twin turbocharger limited to 76mm maximum (Precision 7675). Turbocharger size will be verified by measuring the housing bore at the leading edge of the impeller wheel and must maintain the contour of the compressor housing. (Stepped or Clipped compressor wheel prohibited) Inducer dimensions will not exceed 3.462 inches and Exducer dimensions will not exceed 4.765 inches on MID FRAME turbos. Inducer dimensions will not exceed 3.462 inches and Exducer dimensions will not exceed 5.56 inches on LARGE FRAME turbos. The maximum diameter of the housing bore at the leading edge of the wheel may not exceed 2 mm more than the maximum allowable turbocharger size permitted. Inserts or reducers to achieve inlet or outlet dimensions prohibited. Any type of air to air or water to air inter-cooler permitted. Turbochargers cannot be combined with nitrous oxide.

 

SUPERCHARGERS:
Cog or gear driven superchargers are permitted, must meet all factory inlet, outlet, and internal housing dimensions. Inserts or reducers to achieve inlet or outlet dimensions prohibited. Any type inter-cooler is permitted. Supercharger cannot be combined with nitrous oxide. Centrifugal superchargers are permitted. Screw superchargers are permitted.

 

NITROUS

All Nitrous systems permitted.

 

OILING SYSTEM

Wet or Dry permitted

 

INTAKE MANIFOLD

Air intake coolers and/or ice boxes allowed in passenger compartment.

 

REAR END

OEM or Bolt in 8.8 or 9 inch

 

TRANSMISSION

Any automatic or manual transmission permitted

 

K-MEMBERS

Aftermarket K-Members permitted, but must attach to the chassis using only the original factory OEM type mounting bolts in the factory mounting location. Motor plates ok. No part of the K-member may be permanently attached to the chassis. K-member may be modified in oil pan area to allow oil pan enlargement or removal.

 

CONTROL ARMS

OEM or tubular stock type control arms required which must be attached in stock location

 

SHOCKS/STRUTS/SPRINGS

OEM or aftermarket shocks/struts/springs permitted. May use coil overs.

 

STOCK TYPE SUSPENSION

Stock type suspension may utilize aftermarket, direct replacement type suspension components including aftermarket replacement shocks, springs, coil overs and/or control arms. All stock type 3-link and 4- link suspensions may modify stock lateral angles and attachment points. Aftermarket torque arms permitted.

FRAME

Frame rails may be altered forward of the strut towers ONLY. Sub-frames may be joined

under car. If connector protrudes through floor, floor must be completely welded to

connector. Stock front /rear sub-frames must remain stock, unaltered, and in stock location

 

TIRES & WHEELS

Tires: 275 M/T Radial Pros or 28 x 10.5 Slicks

 

WHEELS:

Spindle mount wheels allowed

 

BODY

OEM steel (fiberglass/composite if OEM equipped) body shell required. Aftermarket

body parts are permitted as long as factory appearing and are limited to hoods, front

bumper covers, fenders, doors, and rear deck lids. Hood is required. Any rear wing permitted.

 

WINDSHIELD & WINDOWS

OEM glass or NHRA approved Lexan is required and must maintain a Ford OEM

appearance. Optic Armor windows are ok. Braces allowed. If carbon fiber/fiberglass

doors are used Lexan windows with supports allowed.

 

FIREWALL

Stock, unaltered firewall required

 

ELECTRONICS

Trans brake, 2 step, and aftermarket ECU permitted
